OBEDIENCE: Rock Quarry or Summer Rain?July 14, 2013
“If you keep My commands [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love and live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commandments and live on in His love.” (John 15:10 Amp)
I sit on our little patio enjoying a gentle rain in the middle of July and deeply appreciate a break from the Texas summer heat. Everything I look at is thriving in this unexpected day of showers. It reminds me of a primary character of God’s word. His voice is like rain and snow from the heavens that gives water and produces all manner of life and abundance of blessing. (read Isa. 55:8-12)
Many who claim to represent God do so wearing glasses with lenses ground from fear and disobedience as their prescription. They are like Moses who was required to give the disobedient children stone slabs etched with rules. The children would not receive God’s voice for themselves because of their fears and only allowed Moses to *speak to them. They settled for a man with rules and stone images of God-speak.
Today the children of this fearful perception still identify with God’s word only as a book of rules and principles. They even squish the well watered writings of Christ-Life into molds of burnt clay so that the IDOL of human obedience may be raised above the Holy and complete obedience of the Lamb of God.
This summer rain came as a gift today and it reminds me of the pathway into an obedient life in Christ. Here’s the mystery: Christ Jesus’ *complete obedience has moved us from tablets of stone to moments of refreshing in Father’s rain (reign). May our hearts be restored and refreshed in the abundant *water of our Father’s speaking. May our minds be renewed in life giving communion and delivered from the stone etchings of our best deductions. DANCE Up! (*Col. 2:8-10; Ex. 20:19: Eph. 5:26)
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the life and obedience of Your Son, Jesus. Thank You that in Him you have given us invitation to commune with You in your Holy Mountain. May our hearts and minds be renewed as we read and hear your Word with eyes healed by the rain of Your unfailing love. For Christ’s sake and our Father’s glory. Amen.

SUMMER of Hope!
SUMMER is here. (well, almost!) The temperature is sure testifying to Summer in Texas. Already had a number of triple digit days.
SPRING was more violent than many remember and that is why I put up this photo I took last Spring. A new leaf had fallen and overnight it had caught some morning dew. The moment caught my heart in the hope of life. Plant life needs certain things to prosper and so does all life.
May your Summer, where ever you live in the wide world, be full of the promise of hope found in Christ Jesus our LORD. May He refresh you in His love and strengthen you in His HOPE!
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (Rom. 15:13)
